Top Wedding Trends for 2018

Planning a wedding in 2018? While classic and timeless touches will never go out of style these up and coming contemporary trends are definitely worth checking out. Everyone loves classic and simple beauty but adding your own flare to your wedding day will make it that much more memorable for you and your guests. So whatever pops out at you, go for it! Here are a few of our favorite upcoming trends you can expect to see and may want to add to your wedding day in 2018.

Flowers are always an important part of your wedding decor including classics like bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids, boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen, tablescapes and centerpieces on all your tables, baby's breath lining the aisle to "I do" and two big beautiful arrangements front and center at the alter. In 2018 however you can expect the unexpected uses (and types!) of florals. Expect to see lush dogwood arrangements, living botanical bars, and potted plants on ceremony aisles and everywhere at receptions. Otherwise green is in and we are loving it. All white is always classical and beautiful but in 2018 color is back and bold! You can expect to see big pops of rich, deep colors in florals along with colorful candle arrangements surrounding or surrounded by flowers and lots of greenery.

Moving indoors. In 2017 we saw a lot of outdoor weddings and if you were on the fence about having an outdoor wedding, go with your gut. It's your day and if that's what you've always dreamed of then that's what you should do. But more and more brides are choosing indoor venues with a twist—think museums, sheltered rooftops, and industrial lofts over the garden, beach or woods locations. Couples are looking for the venues with combined perks of indoors with an outdoors feel. Large windows, natural light, and high ceilings are just some of the must-haves when it comes to this trend, which carries over from the industrial wedding venue craze that popped up in 2017.

Destination weddings are always fun and tend to run on the smaller side which can be really cost effective. In 2018, we're expecting to see couples bring a new element of fun to their special day by embracing the local culture. The best part of these unique places are the local traditions and customs—like the Montenegro guitar procession or a sake sharing ceremony in Japan. Get creative! All things creativity are up and coming in 2018. One creative twist you might want to add to your special day is creative place cards. While paper will always hold a special place in weddings and will always be the traditional and classic choice. Couples are turning towards getting creative with their place cards. Trends of delicious place cards like boxed macarons or anything edible for that matter including your favorite alcohol. Plants or vases as a place card or pumpkins for a fall wedding. So have fun, get creative.

While nothing could ever replace a the classic reception, more couples will throw their resources into after parties in the year 2018. The emphasis will be on the late-night portion of the wedding and the level of thought that goes into 'the party after the party' will grow in 2018. Whether that means adding a specialty late-night food option like mini sliders or pizza, changing into a fun jumpsuit or lighter dress, or moving to an entirely new location. The after party options are endless and growing in popularity.
